SEINÄJOEN TYTTÖKUORON 18 ULKOMAANMATKAA

"Mikä laulaen tulee, se vipeltäen menee", on joku sanonut tyttökuoron motoksi. Matkojen määrää, kaukaisiakin kohteita ja rahoitustakin on moni ihmetellyt.

Senjälkeen, kun kuoro teki 1982 menestyksellisen matkan Kauko-Itään ja ennenkaikkea Hong Kongin kuorofestivaalille, on kutsuja sadellut eri puolille maailmaa. Vain pieneen osaan on kuoro voinut vastata myöntävästi.

Yleensä kohdemaa on osallistunut eri tavoin perillä syntyviin kustannuksiin. Matkakulut on kuitenkin pitänyt kuoron itse hankkia.

Kuorolaisten ja vanhempien muodostaman tukiyhdistyksen oma toiminta on muodostanut rahoituksen rungon: konserttituotot, äänitteiden myynti, omat lehdet, myyjäiset, arpajaiset jne ovat kartuttaneet kassaa. Menestyksen myötä kuoro sai vuosien varrella runsaasti avustuksia eri lähteistä, joista mainittakoon Opetusministeriö, Seinäjoen kaupunki, Suomen Kulttuurirahasto ja Kordelinin säätiö. Kuorolaisille jäänyt omakustannusosuus on jäänyt varsin kohtuulliseksi ja siitäkin on johtokunta anomuksesta antanut alennusta. Kenenkään ei ole tarvinnut taloudellisten syiden vuoksi jäädä rannalle.

Useille matkoille on osallistunut runsaastikin "turisteja", ts kuorolaisten perheenjäseniä ja kuoron ystäviä. Suurimmillaan osanottajamäärä oli viimeisellä matkalla lokakuussa 2002. Koulujen syysloman aikaan osallistui peräti 110 kuorolaista, huoltajaa ja turistia Mallorcalle suuntautuneelle matkalle. Karkeasti laskien on kuoron henkilömatkavuosien lukumäärä 32. Kun pahin haaveri on vaatinut pienen turistitytön leukaan viisi tikkiä, voidaan todeta matkoilla olleen onnea ja varjelusta.

THE 18 INTERNATIONAL CONCERT TOURS OF SEINÄJOKI GIRLS´ CHOIR

“What comes with singing, goes busyly everywhere” (Mikä laulaen tulee, se vipeltäen menee), has someone said to be the motto of Seinäjoki Girls´ Choir. Many people have indeed been surprised by the amount, length and finanzing of choir´s international concert tours.

The choir made a very succesful concert tour to Far East and especially the Childrens´ Choir Festival in Hong Kong in 1982. Since that tour the choir has received invitations all around the world – and still does, although the choir doesn´t exist anymore. The choir has been able to say “yes” to just a small fraction of the invitations.

Normally the receivind country has in different ways taken part of the costs of the tour. Still the choir has had to get financing for the travelling itself. The support organisation of the singers and their parents has been in the main role in funding money: the income from the concerts, selling the records, own newspapers, Christmas bazaars, lotteries etc. have been a big factor in raising money. As soon as the choir got bigger acknowledgements, it started getting financial aid from different sources: the Finnish Ministry of Education, the city of Seinäjoki, the Finnish Cultural Funding, the foundation of Kordelin have among others given their financial support to Seinäjoki Girls´ Choir. Because of that the choir members have normally had to pay quite little from the concert tours – and the board of the choir has lowered the costs for those singers, who applied for that. No singer ever has had to skip an international concert tour for financial reasons.

“Tourists” have been able to come along to many of the choir´s tours. The “tourists” have normally been the singers´ family members and friends of the choir. The biggest concert tour for the choir and it´s friends was the last one: altogether 110 singers, guardians, family members and tourists were at the island of Mallorca at October 2002. Roughly speaking one person should travel totally for 32 years to get into the same amount of travelling as the choir has done. The biggest accident ever on these concers tours was, when a small tourist girl (the choir conductor´s granddaughter) got five stiches on her chin after diving carelessly in a pool. It´s amazing, that nothing more serious than that has ever happened!
